LIVE This Weekend – EIHL Week 6

Full Compliment of EIHL fixtures this weekend. And after last weekends success at 20/20 HockeyFest, and the acquisition of Andrew Verner, the Sheffield Steelers will be hoping their season “starts now”. They face Hull on Sunday a week after knocking their East Riding of Yorkshire counterparts out of the inaugural tournament.

Nottingham still top the pack, Kevin Bergin returning to the line up after being “rested” and Johan Molin making a cameo appearance in the Panthers embarrassing exit from Sheffield Arena.

All teams in action twice this weekend. Here’s where you can find them.

LIVE This Weekend – EIHL Week 3

Week 3 of Elite League action and the Newcastle Vipers still sit top of the tree after the first few rounds of games. But the league is very tight, by the time this weekend passes it could all change.

Edinburgh join the party, at last, this Saturday evening in Hull, under a week before their visitors from North America arrive in Scotland, and with a team containing more ex-NHL players than any other, this side may make a massive impact and shock a lot of people.

To date UKHL cannot find any live coverage from Edinburgh, we know they had a webcast last season, but can find no details of this returning. If you know of any coverage live from Murrayfield, e-mail us at updates@ukhockeylive.com.

A lot of thanks to John Walker who has passed on detail of the Edinburgh Webcast for addition to the blog.

Now, to this weeks games.

Response to the Cloutier Interview

Tuesday’s UKHL interview with Sylvain Cloutier prompted quite a response from across the Atlantic. His comment that other coaches suggested he was “Back Doored” out of his job with the Ice Rays was picked up by Greg Rajan, who prompted the current coach for a response.

Sylvain himself was also given a right to reply.

You can listen to the full interview here

An interesting take on the interview. Cloutier was obviously unhappy at his exit and, as he points out, he does not claim directly that he was ‘backdoored’, but remarks that other coaches have suggested as such.

With Cloutier now being Hull Player-Coach, he has the opportunity to put the experience behind him and prove his coaching ability in the EIHL. We wish him well with that.
