The internet dominates all information in modern day society. Blogs and Discussion Forums have been methods for fans to communicate their views in the Elite League since before its inception.

Some times good, some times bad, it cannot be ignored that it is a widely used medium, with more and more EIHL teams taking advantage for their own benefit. The Belfast Giants as an example mix Players Blogs with regular “State of the Nation” updates form General Manager Todd Kelman.

While many small independent ventures attempt to give their own personal take on events.

One such independent blog is The Cats Whiskers, a blog mainly concerned with the Nottingham Panthers, it began life as a fanzine but now resides on the web.

UKHL spoke with the man behind The Cats Whiskers, Jono Bullard, about how the “blogosphere” has effected communication between fans ant teams and if the content of discussion forums benefits or hinders clubs.

Many thanks to Jono for his time.

Other Blogs mentioned in the interview are well worth a look as well as many others out there.
<itunes:summary>

The Breakaway British Hockey Blog
Five Minute Major
F Block Blog
Scott Neill Speaks to UKHL about the Caps, the AHL visitors and the EIHL.

Following weeks of speculation, it has finally been confirmed that 2 AHL teams will face the Edinburgh Capitals and the Belfast Giants at Murrayfield Rink in September.

In a coup for Scott Neill and the Caps organisation the visiting Hamilton Bulldogs and Toronto Marlies will face off in an AHL showdown on Thursday 24th September. Then on Saturday 26th Septemeber the Capitals and the Giants will each face AHL opposition in a 2 day tournament, the winners and losers of these “Semi-Finals” will proceed to a Final and a 3rd Place Playoff the next day.

This will undoubtedly case shockwaves of excitement through the EIHL as the clamber for tickets begins today. But the prospect of a mid season exhibition tournament is one that will have fans, not only from Belfast and Edinburgh, but throughout the UK wanting to fill the wooden seats at Murrayfield.
